Hello everyone,
By now many of you may have already heard of the P2RD project where an
engineer is developing a portable reading system for the blind consisting of
a high quality digital camera and a hand-held computer.
Although I find the concept truly promising and plan to be among the first
customers, I believe utilizing a digital camera in a desktop setting would
also be desirable.
I am writing to ask if anybody among the subscribers knows of anyone that
has experimented successfully or not with using a digital camera as a
scanner replacement. Many cameras are TWEIN compatible and possess the
resolution one would need for accurate OCR-ing with the advantage that
photographing pages would be dramatically faster than scanning them.
Thank you,
Fernando
