  The Westminster (where Big Ben is located) chimes can be described in
terms of four notes: C, D, E, and the G below the C.
Quarter hour: E D C G
Half hour: C E D G, C D E C
Three-quarter hour: E C D G, G D E C, E D C G
Full hour: C E D G, C D E C, E C D G, G D E C, Bong...Bong

Notice that the sequence of sets of four notes repeats itself, the last five
being the same as the first five; full hour plus quarter hour = half hour
plus three-quarter hour.
