Part 1: About VICUG NYC's SEPTEMBER General Membership Meeting

VICUG NYC's next General Membership Meeting will be held on TUESDAY,
September 12th from 6 to 7:30 pm, in the Auditorium of Selis Manor, 135
West Twenty-Third Street, halfway between Sixth and Seventh Avenues.

The focus of the September twelfth meeting will be the BrailleNote, the
new, Windows-based notetaker that everyone is talking about. Larry Lewis,
HumanWare's Blindness Products Manager, will give us a complete
demonstration of what the BrailleNote can do. It includes a braille
keyboard and a braille display, speech output, the ability to import and
read Word files, an e-mail program, standard serial and parallel ports, and
more. Larry is stopping in New York on his way to Europe, so we need to
start promptly at 6:00 and end at 7:30 to allow him to catch his overseas
flight.

come to the September twelfth meeting, and be sure to bring a
friend!

Time permitting, the presentation will be followed by an "open floor",
which is YOUR opportunity to ask--and answer--any question about
computers, with a special focus on the night's topics. You will also have
a chance to get some hands-on experience with the BrailleNote.

Membership dues for Y2K will be collected at the September twelfth meeting.
Dues are a mere twelve dollars, and endow you with the right to hold
office, the right to vote, and a clear
conscience. If you plan on paying in cash, please bring exact change!
Thanks to all who paid earlier this year.
