Hi, all. Several people asked me to let the list know the solution to my
defragmenting problems, so here it is. I removed the JFW authorization key
just to be safe and ran a thorough ScanDisk with everything in the system
tray closed except Volume Control; I had also disabled the Button Manager in
my HP scanning software. I think there was still something lurking beyond
JfW's reach because, even with azJaws turned off, I received a warning about
the ScanDisk restarting; I ignored this and it went fine. Later, with JfW
again off, I defragmented, this time with no problems. In my case it took
about fifty minutes. I should also add that JfW was off during
defragmenting as well, but it "exclaimed" at the end and I quit without
having to reboot. Screen saver was also disabled.
All these suggestions were given to me by list members and I'd like to thank
them all. I hope that this brief outline will perhaps be helpful to others
who had a defragmenting crisis.
Regards, Ilene
