Hello, Listers,

Excuse my cross posting, but I thought that some of you might be interested
in this message about the National Disability Mentoring Day.

Best regards,
Edwin

Register Now to Participate in Disability Mentoring Day

Disability Mentoring Day is a national effort designed to promote the
employment of students with disabilities through the time-tested success of
personal mentoring. It enables students to spend part of a day visiting a
business or government agency that matches their interests and have
one-on-one time with volunteer mentors.

Disability Mentoring Day began in 1999 as a White House effort to help boost
the employment of people with disabilities and was patterned after other
mentoring and job shadow activities, such as the national Groundhog Job
Shadow Day. Last year, Disability Mentoring Day events were hosted in 14
states and Washington, DC, with the participation of 17 federal agencies and
more than two dozen national businesses. Disability Mentoring Day is now
positioned to be extended across the country through leadership in local
communities.

These New York City businesses have already committed to participating in
this year's activities: Borough President's Office, MetLife, Penguin Putnam
Publishing, HSBC, IBM, Con Edison, IKON. Many will be added.

If you are interested in participating in Disability Mentoring Day on
October 16, 2002 (whether as a student, as a volunteer mentor or to help
plan events), contact the appropriate local coordinator. You'll find the
complete list of local coordinators at:
http://www.aapd-dc.org/docs/mentorlist.html

Students from the New York City area or a recent graduate who is still
looking for work, can register by completing the registration form in eSight
Careers NetWork. Go to:
http://www.esight.org/form_question_main_anon.cfm?pid=17

Please pass the word to friends, colleagues and clients.

Thanks,
Edwin
