Morey,

I am sure there are others who can do a better job of explaining this, and
I may get something wrong, but here goes!

MSAA stands for Microsoft Active Accessibility. This is a technology
built into some--if not most--Windows programs that allows a screen
reader, like JAWS, to get information from the application. For example,
JAWS can ask the application what button has focus or what text is in a
text entry field. I believe JAWS has its own ways of getting this
information from a lot of applications, but it uses MSAA to get some
information from some applications. I know JAWS uses MSAA with Lotus
Notes.

That's about all I know! I hope it helps!

Christopher

        Subject: [VICUG-L] What is MSAA

Howdy all,
Last week I contacted FS about a small problem I was having with JAWS
4.0252. With a few suggestions from a technician, we resolved my problem.
Another suggestion from him was to install the MSAA from the JAWS CD. What
will I gain by doing this, and what is Active Accessibility?
Thanks,
Morey
