Hello. Following is a summary of responses to my request for restaurants
heading south from Monterey to LA...
We're going to Downtown Disney and CA Adventure, so thanks for those
suggestions! Roselyn

Had you considered staying at places that end in the
word "Suites" or residence inns, etc., that have a
kitchenette? You could bring your own pots and scrubbers,
dishsoad and a few dishes, then shop at Whole Foods.

Have spent a fair amount of time in Monterey recently, and had a couple
of good experiences at "The Sardine Factory" (quite upscale), which is
just one block up from the main drag along the wharf.. Also, there are
quite a few fish restaurants along the wharf in Monterey that would
probably be good bets.

i can only say when we did a road trip to california from colorado
that we ate at virtually every outback steakhouse we saw going thru
utah/arizona/nevada! :) they have one not so far from disneyland. just a few
blocks. i always get the rockhamptom ribeye steak with a baked potatoe and
butter only. salad wise i had always ordered the caesar with no croutons,
prepared in a clean bowl in back(otherwise they shake the greens with
dressing in a bowl that they use when they add croutons to every other
salad.!), but now i notice eggs give me aprob.... but that is a good safe
option for you for dinner at an outback.
we also ate at the rainforest cafe in the disney downtown area. i asked for
a plain grilled chicken breast and steamed vegies. the chef knew of celiac
and added an oil that was flavored with a red chilie on the chicken. it was
very yummy!
i also had the BEST food at the soap opera bistro in california adventure.
they really treated me great and made the half roasted chicken for me as
well as vegies. i also had a chocolate no flour cake that was to die for.
