Hi
I am having a problem with connecting to the internet. Sometimes it works fine, but mostly when I try to connect I the following:
"Dialing...
Failed to connect to remote computer.
No dial tone. Make sure the modem is correctly connected to the computer and phone line."
If I try unplugging and plugging in the telephone cable from the modem to the telephone jack and trying again it will then connect, but sometimes I have to do this a few times to get it to work.
The modem is about 2 weeks old ( US Robotics 56K fax, win, int, PCI . I am running Win 98 SE. A few weeks ago it apeared that I was connecting at 24k bps but I could not surf at all and after several days with my ISP tech support ( they never resolved the problem, they told me to get a new modem which I did but I still could not surf, just a m

essage saying "cannot find server" ) On my own I decided to reformated the c: drive, reloaded win 98 and then the first time I tried to connect it worked. Now I have the problem described above.
