Lisa,

To me, one of the most important features of a laptop is the keyboard layout.
In my work for over four years as a computer access specialist I've found the
IBM Thinkpad has a far more user friendly keyboard layout than most others.
Whenever I've had to recommend a laptop for a client I've recommended one
incarnation or another of the Thinkpad. This is not to say that these computers
have been trouble free. But it's worth noting that the tech support is also
very good. I seldom have to hang around on hold for an IBM tech support person
and they are willing to stick with me until the problem is solved.
