Many thanks to Phil Parker, Barry Clark, Glenn Josephson and Dean Kukral
for replying to my message. Kudos go to Phil and Glenn who nailed the problem.
I had two 64MB modules one 100MHz and one 133. After replacing these with
one 128 MB module, the problem disappeared.
Curiously, I installed the two 64MB modules on the system I pulled the 128
MB ram from and it works fine.
