it seems that your cd-rw is timing out.
As in you can't multi task while it is recording
or your computer may not be able to send the information fast enough. The
first thing to change is the channel the cdrom is plugged into. By placing
it onto the slave of the primary ide first of all slows your harddisk. Your
harddisk will only run as fast as the cdrom, by removing the cdrom from this
channel will increase access speeds.
If you use the following configuration it may help
Primary IDE1: Master - Hard drive
Primary IDE1: Slave - Nothing
Secondary IDE2: Master - CDROM
Secondary IDE2: Slave - CDRW
