what wonderful advice, debbie!
the only thing i'd add is NOT to necessarily wait until a child's older to get the medic alert bracelet. our 1st allergist told me to when my daughter was first dx at 11 mos, & i did it thinking it was overkill, but i've never regretted it; bc it's unusual to see it on a young child's wrist, it's been a wonderful & fairly immediate red flag to folks on outings, playdates, daycare, etc, not to mention a constant reminder when she's been w/ babysitters & now at friends' houses.
the other plus about it at any age is the wealth of medical info that can be so quickly accessed by any caregiver just by calling medic alert's tollfree number & giving them her id #......
