At AAM's picnic and general meeting, members asked what they could do
to help with AAM activities. It was a welcome question. In answer,
here is a brief review of ongoing projects (along with an urgent
appeal). AAM can use all the help you have to offer.

*** FIRST AND FOREMOST...AN URGENT APPEAL ***

1. At the 4th quarterly meeting of AAM, we were unable to elect a new
roster of AAM executive members. We need people to step forward to
nominate themselves and others so that we have a pool of people from
which to elect an executive that will continue to move our
organization forward. Sebastian Wallang, Aliko Songolo, and Adejoju
Falomo are your election committee members. They are organizing to
have an election on December 13, the date of AAM's end-of-year party.

Please contact Sebastian Wallang them with nominations as soon as
possible via e-mail at <[log in to unmask]> or by phone (home:
277-8667 -OR- cell: 516-5387).

2. Adelaide Fiske is organizing people to work on behalf of AAM
through a local security company. Work as an usher, ticket taker, or
bag checker at local events. Currently, there are opportunities to
attend the last two UW Badger football games. You get to see the game
for free and meet a lot of Badger fans. If interested, contact
Adelaide Fiske. A simple application form must be filled out, so be
sure to contact Adelaide early to make sure you have enough time to
file your application before the big game.

3. Submit a story for publication in AAM's newsletter, The African
Talking Drum. For more information, contact Anita Makuluni at
<[log in to unmask]> or call her at 298-0702. We are interested in
stories of all kinds. What's on your mind? Let us know.

4. It's never too early to help with next year's festival, and no
task is too small. Efforts for next year's festival are already in
progress. One of the priorities at the moment is in the area of
applications for grant monies. Also, Adelaide Fiske, our 2004
President, is asking for input into a theme for next year's festival.
Please contact Adelaide with your ideas.

5. Keep doing what you have been doing: celebrating successes and
sharing burdens with fellow members and friends. That is the heart of
AAM.
