Usually when you get this error either the resolution and/or the refresh rate on the monitor are beyond the monitor's capabilities (out of range). He needs to look at the manual for the monitor to see what settings for these are within its range.



My friend tells me his computer is locking up and giving him an "out
>of range" error on his monitor,then takes him to a color display screen and
