As a reformed Natural Hygienist I some experience with food combining. In
his later years, Herbert Shelton (the guy who popularized food combining)
wrote that the main benefit of food combining is that it reduces over eating.
He wrote that If someone has severe digestive problems there might be some
benefit from it. The problem many people have is the eat fruit alone maxim.
Eating a fruit meal can cause all sorts of blood sugar problems.
Also, Shelton thought that eating too much starch was bad and he wanted to
regulate the amount of starch eaten.
Also, the science that food combining is based on is faulty. There has been
more learned about digestion and digestive enzymes since Shelton wrote about
it.
I realize this a bit of a disjointed post. I would not worry about food
combining if you are eating basically a lower carb version of paleo. Pay
attention to how you feel after you eat. If certain combinations of food
bother you, don't eat those combinations.
Hope this helps.
