And it hurts. :(  I'd be concerned that he would be reluctant to mention
a "minor" reaction in this situation.

If you can't have an "if" statement, maybe 2 plans?  1 for if he
reports a minor allergic reaction and another for if they observe him
wheezing for any reason.

Sorry, sounds like a tough situation. :(
