Hi, I am new to the list and was just diagnosed with celiac disease. I have
no symptoms but came back with a high PTH test (parathyroid hormones) and
low Vit. D. They say my body is not aborbing vit. D which is causing
calcium problems and hence the hyperparathyroidism. Now my question is
this. If I did not eat any gluten for several months and my intestines were
healed, could I eat gluten products once in a while (say once a month) and
not suffer any consequences? Since I have no other symptoms of celiac, and
would not suffer consequences of eating gluten, it seems unlikely that once
in a while eating gluten would cause much damage. Any info is appreciated.
This gluten free diet sounds like a real pain and a lot of work to adjust
to! Kathy
