Dear Auntie Bonnie,

Jake, here! No can do on meeting Claude. I'm a one woman man, dontcha
know. Mommy wanted to get me a sister back in 1998 when my brother went to
Rainbow Bridge - a Westie girl from Philadelphia, but she thought better of
it. I have "issues" (abuse in my other home) and am not well socialized to
other dogs, but I do love meeting new people, so you can visit me any time
you want. Just remember to bring a bag o soup bones, k!

Mommy doesn't have many falls at all. The last time she took a good flip,
she had help - a black cat. Mr.Basil, her first apartment pet was in her
path while she was walking and boom, Mommy went down and dislocated an
elbow; not in one place, but two. What a mess that was.

Mommy has great bones according to her doctor. She's been drinking milk
for years and her bones are hard as rocks. Heck, she still has all her
toofies. She's very wise, ya know!

Not only is Mommy into alternatives when it comes to keeping herself
healthy, she has me and my cat brudders on vits and herbs. I had my 10th
birthday last week - the 22nd and I am fit as a fiddle, tearing around "my
castle" like a puppy. Amazing what even a daily Vitamin C can do.

Mommy gets loads of exercise ... letting cats in, letting cats out,
letting me out, letting me in, playing ball with me 3-4 times a day. She
really gets a workout preparing meals - reaching into a cupboard here, a
cupboard there, bending waaaaaaaaaay over to fetch something out of the
freezer, stretching wayyyyyyyyy up to get something from a cupboard she can
barely reach. Oh joy!

Her "do a little dance" thing is kinda cute too, as she sidesteps a stray
bit of kibble on the floor, or one of my well-gnawed upon bones tossed aside
cause I"m too lazy to move it. She doesn't know it, but I watch her bend
over to pick it up, and I can see the wheels turning. I know she'd love to
toss the offending thing in the trash, but she never does. But hey, she's
getting a great range of motion exercise using several muscle groups. The
way I see it, I'm doing her a favor. Don't you agree? To further contribute
to her health and wellness regimen, I make sure I leave one of my rubber
balls well within her view. Ever watching and waiting, I see her pick it up,
and then I pounce. Let the games begin!

So, uncle Bobby, get yer head out of the refrigerator and take that furkid
of yours to the park and toss a football. Heck, you could enter one of those
Daddy and doggy exercise programs. You'd have a blast!

Well, I'm off to help Mommy finish doing the laundry. She stripped the bed
and has the blankets on the floor. I like to leap into the heap and play tug
as she tries to turf me out of the way. Suppose I could hire myself out as a
personal trainer?

  Bye for now.

Your friend,

Mr. Jake (the cutie boy Cairn) Rockwell
