In order to use software I downloaded for recovering a lost file, I seem
to need the hard-drive sector number where that file (less than one sector
in length) is stored.

I'm using Windows 98se with 32-kB HD sectors in FAT16 format. The file
was originally about 10 kB in size but was unfortunately saved as 261 bytes.
Most of the remainder should be recoverable if only I can tell the recovery
software where to look.

Can anyone tell me how I might translate the filename.ext into the
starting HD sector number?
