Hello,

Under DOS I used to use Q edit and the Semware Editor for editing files
on a byte for byte basis. I could search for any character by its ascii
number and identify any character anywhere in the file using ordinary
screen access software. I could also write any character into the file,
see it on screen or hear it spoken, and I felt I had ample control.

But under Windows, that flexibility seems to have been taken away, or
perhaps, I just don't know how to achieve what I want. If there are
things I can do with Word or NotePad or adjustments I can make to Jaws
or WindowEyes, or if there is another text editor which is user friendly
for this purpose, I'd much appreciate hearing from anyone who can help.

Thanks in advance.

John S
