Hi,

The source of the problem with Scan Disk running each time you start up
could be leaving a program running at shut down.

When you are going to shut down, you need to ensure that you are on the
desktop and all programs are already closed.

To check that all programs are closed with JFW, press Insert F10 and Jaws
should say nothing.  If using another screen reader then use Alt Tab and
there should be no programs to Alt Tab to so you will remain on the .
Desktop.

To shut down you can then select Shut Down from the start Menu or as I
prefer, just press Alt F4.
