Hi folks,

I've been reading Dwayne McDuffie's three-part _Blink_ story in
Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight comic series, which features a
blind man with the superhuman power to "see" through the eyes
of whomever he touches. During the course of the story, someone
goes to this character's apartment, threatens him with a gun,
and hits him -- causing his guide dog to heroically leap to
bite the bad guy and chase him off, defending his master.

The guide dog is still in the harness at this time -- the impression
I have gotten from my limited experience with dogs is that if they
are in the harness they are amazingly unlikely to do such a thing,
because of their training. If the dog were out of the harness, it
might do very well bite the guy. Is my supposition correct, or am
I way off base?

_Will_ a guide dog (in harness) defend someone?

I'm asking because I'm on a mailing list with the author, and he
would probably like to know too. :)
