We have been using our HP DeskJet 890C for about 2 1/2 years. It has been
connected to PCs running Windows 95, NT and 2000. Until a couple months
ago, we had no problems.
Now, the printer will only work for a short period of time when the PC and
printer have both been turned off and rebooted. It may print once; it may
print 5 or 6 times; but invariably, then, it "quits". When connected to the
Windows 2000 PC, it starts printing garbage with no error message. When
connected to a Windows NT PC, it won't print at all and the following error
message appears on the screen: "There is a problem accessing printer port."
I have changed the cable (twice) and moved the printer to a different PC
with a different operating system. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the
printer. I have downloaded the latest drivers from HP. The symptoms
remain the same.
Any ideas?
