Jassey Conteh,
Your intentions for the Gambia as pronounced here may be noble
but I have issues as to your reasoning. I am just surprised
that you are accepting an "olive branch" from Jammeh even as
he comtinues to fire "opposition" civil servants daily. What do
we need to convince us that prounouncements from the APRC
regarding this "olive branch" is short on honesty and long on
platitudes. How can he ask for coperation and yet fire those
him and his cronies believe are in the opposition. Nothing has
changed since the election and if anything, Jammeh continues to
treat opposition members with contempt. Mark my word on this: if
Dibba accepts any post from Jammeh, it will not last. He too,
shall be used, abused and refused just like the Pap Cheyassins
and Saja Taals.
In our quest for a better Gambia, we owe it to ourselves to
differentiate between the well-meaning Gambians and those who are
there for themselves. It is in this vein that we should not
make the devil a bed fellow. As far as Jammeh goes, you are
either with him all the way or you take the high way. He has
proved this a number of times and its time we recognize
such "olive branches" as just perfunctory statements.
