Hi Yukiko,

Do you know anyone who needs a service dog? Check out the email I posted
below.

How are things? :) How was VM?

Please feel free to cross post because this is the only list I am a member
of. In August when a close friend passed away I ended up with her animals.
One of which was her Service Dog "Doc". He has not adjusted to pet life
which is why I am looking for another disabled individual that he could
serve. Doc is a 3 = yr old Lab/German Shorthaired Pointer cross. He is on
the small side for both breeds weighing about 70lbs (he really needs to
lose 10lbs or so) and approx. 20inches at the shoulder. He is very friendly
and outgoing and does well with all other animals with the slight exception
of birds which could be worked on. He at one time was proofed for working
around birds as well but he has not been worked in a SD capacity since
July. My friend home trained him herself and I'm not sure all the tasks
that he was trained for. I do know I saw him pick things up for her,
sometimes without her even asking - he would just notice that she had
dropped something. I have seen her ask him to get things out of the dryer.
And she said that she thought he was alerting to her seizures. I know she
had planned on teaching him light switches but whether or not she got
around to it I don't know. She had also talked about training him to push
her life line button but again I am not sure if she did or not. He is
accustomed to working with a power wheelchair. He is crate trained and
extremely house broken, he rings a bell on the door to signal when he needs
to go. He is off lead trust worthy and unless they were in public I never
saw him on a leash. He was x-rayed and I could probably get those films if
needed. He is neutered and microchipped. I have never seen an ounce of
aggression in him. I have tried placing him in 3 different pet homes and
every time when they bring him back they tell me the same thing, "he has
too much energy and needs a job to do". At my house he carries his harness
around in his mouth for hours at a time and will bring it to me as if
begging me to work. He is constantly in motion and can not sit still, but
when you put him in his harness he is like a different dog. I just want
what is best for Doc. I have a list of some of the commands that I know she
used with him. He would need a refresher course and maybe some retraining
for new skills. I am not asking any money for Doc just to know that he
could help someone else. He does come with a harness, lead, halti, crate,
toys, brush and if I can find them backpacks. If you or someone you know
could use Doc please contact me at: ==== Elisha Burton Salem, Oregon
