Another difficult school budget has been passed by the school board.
Another year of tough decisions, dictated by state-imposed revenue
limits, that are slowly nibbling away at the quality of our schools.
Many in the community have asked, "what can we do, how can we help?"
Nothing speaks louder than action.
On Thursday, June 24, school advocates from across the state will gather
in Madison to rally for school funding reform. The rally is the
culmination of a 250-mile "Walk on the Child Side" (
<http://www.nocaps.org/> www.nocaps.org) event beginning June 7 in
Butternut, Wisconsin. Madison participants will
meet at East High School at 10am on June 24th. Madison organizers will
have signs representing each of the 46 schools for parents, students,
teachers
and others to walk en masse to the Capitol for a noon rally.
We encourage you to organize your friends to march for a more equitable
school funding plan.
We need legislators from across the state to hear our voices and
acknowledge that school funding reform is long overdue. Please make
every effort to get people out to attend this important rally. If you
have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me (or you can
contact Madison school board member Carol Carstensen at
