I came across this the other day; take a look:
http://www.sonicbox.com/downloads/index.html.  I've read about similar
units, including one for automobiles, but can't recall them now.  I recently
bought a "book pc" with integrated LAN that I intend to tie into my home
entertainment center in order to playback MP3s & streaming 'net audio.  This
is an option you may want to consider.
