As many of you know, May 4, 2002 is the day thousands of people across
the world will be "making tracks for celiacs" in an effort to raise
funds for celiac research (Center for Celiac Research, Maryland).
Several countries are participating, and here in the U.S., there are
events being held in many cities.

I'd like to let people know about the 1k/5k walk/run event on the west
coast. I'm hoping people from all over will come to beautiful La Jolla,
California (San Diego) to participate (the walk/run route is along the
shoreline-- absolutely beautiful!). Thanks to generous sponsorships (we
still need more!), our event is going to be huge. We expect 2,000
participants, and are having a community/health fair afterwards. We're
also offering free celiac testing to the first 200 people to sign up for
it (you have to be there to sign up -- it will be done at the health
fair). All participants receive a high-quality tee-shirt, and donations
go to CFCR in Maryland. (Dr. Pietzak here on the west coast has
challenged Dr. Fasano to raise as much as we do -- there's sushi and
crab cakes on the line!)

For more information, see www.a-thon.com. There are many ways you can be
involved:

1. Participate! Even if you live far away, La Jolla is GORGEOUS, and a
walk/run along the shore is spectacular.

2. Send a donation (either via the website at www.a-thon.com, or else
e-mail me and we can discuss options).

3. Volunteer. I could use people before and during the event, even if
it's from afar via e-mail.

4. Sponsorship opportunities are still available. If you're a vendor and
would like to participate, please contact me via e-mail.

Donations are tax-deductible, and greatly appreciated. This event is
going to be spectacular! I hope you'll consider joining us.
