The following info shows up in the following website.

"[In cd]The body lacks a particular digestive enzyme, intestinal
glutaminase, that can digest gluten products"
http://thyroid.about.com/library/weekly/aa012201a.htm

Now I have not come across this info before. Any hard data to verify
this?

On the flip side of the "why" of celiac is the discussion surrounding
zonulin. Zonulin is a hormone that regulates the permeability of the
intestines (maybe one of many?) (Lancet April 2000) and is found to be
abnormally high in unmanaged cd. I have not seen any reference to this
in all of the discussions on this listserv since I began subscribing(a
year ago???). Any discussion now?

Can we speculate and dream about managing our zonulin levels while we
ingest gluten? Now that would be a cure! I know this sounds too simple
and it probably is but dreaming is possible isn't it? Actually since I
face a much stricter diet than a gf one each day, at this point I would
be very happy to just be gf.

If you have any mail for me be sure to use the COMPLETE address
below(although I understand some servers may have problems with it.)
