I was unable to respond to the email regarding "strange symptoms", but
thought that another possibility should be mentioned.

I get a lump in my throat if I eat wheat. This is a swelling in the
throat which feels like a hard ball (The throat is actually closing.)
and won't go away. This can be life-threatening and I keep an Epi-Pen
with me at all times. After discussion with my allergist, he gave me
the diagnosis of a wheat allergy.

In addition, I have allergy shots for grass. Much of the grass that is
grown in various parts of the US contains a variety of seeds. Some of
which are wheat, barley, etc. Did the bottoms of your feet itch when
you were a kid playing on the lawn? Maybe an early symptom of wheat
sensitivity showing up.

For the allergy shots, I started out at 1 part grass in 10,000,000 parts
of solution. I'm now down to 1 part grass in 100,000 parts of solution.
It's taken about 3 years to get to this point (a long time). My arm
will occasionally swell, have a red mark, be tender, etc. as a result of
the shot. The doctor then keeps me at this dosage for as long as the
arm exhibits allergic symptoms. By the way, this allergy is what made
me realize that I was celiac.

In the middle of all of this, I was diagnosed with asthma and am now
taking Singular for this. Astham and allergies often go hand-in-hand,
but you already know this.

The last part of this -- at 20 yrs of age, I had a thyroid cyst. After
surgery one side of the thyroid and 2 of the 4 parathyroids are missing.
(No medication even after 30 years.) That's very young to have surgery
of this type. The doctor really couldn't give me a medical reason. It
was thought to be stress.

I hope this is helpful for those of you struggling with some of these
problems. Going gf has helped a lot and I feel the best I have ever
felt. Keep searching for answers as the body is mysterious,
exasperating and wonderful, but, oh my, it isn't simple.
