Thought this might be of interest. You might see if there is anyone else
in your area signed up and piggyback with them or for $40.00 you might
want to sponsor a site and invite others to take part. This is not just
for Georgia but a nation wide audio conference. Good program and timely
materials.

Happy Thanksgiving.

Jim

be THANKFUL unto him, and bless his name." Psalm 100:4 We do have much
to be THANKFUL for in these trying times.

ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY: A YEAR IN REVIEW
PROMISING AND EMERGING TECHNOLOGIES
An Audio Conference
January 9, 2002
2:30 - 4:00 P.M. (Eastern Standard Time)

Tech Connections' continuing series of audio conferences offers
training opportunities on Assistive Technology for vocational
rehabilitation professionals and the individuals they serve.
Audio Conferencing is a telephone conference call, which brings
experts to your doorstep without the high cost of travel.
Groups listen by speakerphone, web-based real-time captioning
and engage in interactive dialogue with experts from around
the nation.

Join us as we discuss under-utilized, promising, and emerging
technologies used to enhance the abilities of individuals with
various disabilities. Participants will have an opportunity to
hear about Assistive Technologies currently being developed,
already FDA approved, and over the counter devices adapted to
meet the needs of people with disabilities. Additionally, we ll
take a look at some of the funding dilemmas associated with
emerging technologies.  This session will:
* Highlight applications of technologies normally not considered
  to enhance independence
* Discuss trends and technologies currently being developed
* Showcase accessories used to expand AT capabilities
* Discuss strategies to pay for these types of technologies

This audio conference is part of a series of training
opportunities on Assistive Technology for vocational
rehabilitation professionals and the individuals they serve.
We will identify strategic methods to address these issues via
fact sheets, case studies, and a question and answer period.

Participants can expect:
* Relevant content that includes actual case studies
* Interactive discussion between knowledgeable speakers and
  moderator
* Web-based Real-Time captioning
* Q & A period
* Post-conference online discussion forum
* CRC credits for audio conference and post-conference
  discussion forum
* Registration and handouts distribution via web and email

Tech Connection's training opportunities are design for
vocational rehabilitation counselors and other rehabilitation
professionals, university educators and students, occupational
therapists, speech and language pathologists and other AT
practitioners, special education teachers, employers,
disability organizations, individuals with disabilities, and
anyone interested in assistive technology and how to
accommodate persons with disabilities in the workplace.
