AMAZING KEYLESS KEYBOARDS
A company called FingerWorks has expanded the popular touchpad concept to
develop an entire keyboard that's "typed" on simply by lightly tapping the
appropriate letters and characters silk-screened onto a rectangular shape.
The company claims the light touch approach saves wear and tear on delicate
finger joints, but it offers an additional advantage -- the full-sized
TouchStream keyboard enables the user to fluidly move from typing to
"mousing" (by moving two fingers across the pad instead of one, the device
acts as a large touchpad). By not having to lift the hand away from the
keyboard to grasp a mouse, the keyless keyboard also reduces stress on
wrist and elbow joints. According to IDG author Sean Captain, the result is
"less like inputting data and more like conjuring a spell." (CNN.com 26 Apr
2002)
