I have the Sanguine 505 receiver and use it as a bedside monitor.

It has no filter options, and overloads quite easily. Its "sensitivity
control" is a two position switch. With this attenuator turned on, it is as
deaf as a post!

This unit will not function with more than fifteen or twenty feet of wire as
the antenna. It simply caves in, receiving strong local AM broadcast signals
in its if stage.

In other words, at about half the price of the Sangean 909 or 818, it's also
about half the radio.
