When they make this dairy free pizza does the manager ensure that the cook changed gloves and that the dough isn't placed on the same surface that they make the regular cheese pies on?? I'm curious because when we go to my sisters in Canton MA they have a Bertucci's and it would be great if my boys could actually eat there. Anther chain that we have had good luck with here in the NE is Charlie Brown's Steak house. The manager actually makes the hamburgers for my kids when we go.

Bertucci's is indeed very good. We had some very bad experiences there a long time ago and contacted their corporate office. They have put procedures in place to minimize the possibility of problems.
That said, you still have to be careful - make sure they understand that you want a cheese-free pizza because of a dairy allergy. When you pick it up, check to make sure that in the chaos they didn't accidentally put cheese on it.
When you eat there, mention allergies and expect a visit from a floor manager. If that doesn't happen, specifically request a visit. They are trained in getting this right (some recent hires may not get it, but their training does include contacting the manager for all food allergies).
Do be careful with the bruschetta - the menu doesn't say it has cheese, and the server isn't aware it does (it didn't used to), but they do put romano on the bread as it's being baked. It seems that most of the staff doesn't know it, probably because it's hard to see. If you talk to the manager early on in the ordering process, you can request that bruschetta be prepared specially, without cheese. It's worth the wait, but do make sure (have a non-allergic person taste) that thereis not cheese on it.
