Steve,
You posted:
"Casein intolerance is a misnomer. You can have lactose intolerance or
milk
protein allergy - to casein or whey or to both - but you shouldn't use the
term
casein intolerance. I understand the confusion, and it's made worse by people
who use the equally inaccurate and outdated term gluten intolerance, but
allergies are not intolerances."

I just wanted to let you know that there are those of us out here who
don't fit the norm. I disagree with your statement because I am "casein
intolerant," but not "allergic" to milk. I have no IgE mediated allergies to any
milk, but I do have IgG mediated delayed reactions to casein. Therefore, I'm
casein intolerant.
I also have "severe gluten intolerance." I'm not "celiac." There is a
difference. Most people don't know this. This is not outdated. It's actually
more in keeping with current reasearch on celiac disease and gluten
intolerance. The genes that you have predispose you to one or the other.
I have all the symptoms, illness, food sensitivities of celiac, but I
don't have it. A place to find information on gluten is www.enterolab.com. In
my case, the gluten is the initial reason that the food sensitivities began
from other foods, such as casein, as the gut/ immune system got messed up from
the gluten.
I do agree that allergies are not intolerances. It's my understanding
that allergies are IgE mediated immediate responses to something. Intolerances
are other than this.
I actually figured out the milk problem first, which then led to the
gluten as the actual culprit. Just thought I'd share the fact that some of us are
out here who don't fit the norms!
