FYI Virus Alert 02/08/02
There is very little known about this potential threat at this time. An
update will be posted when more information is available. Please be
advised that opening attachments from unfamiliar sources should be done
with caution and only if absolutely necessary.
************
A kind of a virus which launches a Ddos attack.
The email contains something like:
"Hi, In the zip file, you will find my CV and a picture of me. I hope I
get the job."
The addresses chosen are ones most likely to be addresses to which
information about job postings would be sent.
When the file is unzipped, there will be a file:
"My_CV.TXT ..EXE"
Or something similar. When it is run, it does nothing for 3 days, then
wakes up and starts DOSing a number of addresses.
