Ok, here follow what I so far put together, for whatever it's worth, it's
only a beginning, but here it is:
notes on driving the vx-5
to set the step:
function key with key #7.
this is shortcut to menu #11
You can then adjust the step frequency.
mode:
go to menu 36.
best route, use function with #1, and find yourself in menu29. hit transmit
to set the default to get you out.
press band to reenter menusystem at 29, then count to 36.
band key again to enter menu 36 and you can set your mode wide: narrow: am.
repeater shift:
press function and #6. This will put you into your offset menu.
menu #7
default is simplex.
Check this with your invert button which is next to the 4 on the extreme
left.
If it beeps, you are in repeater mode.
Default simplex won't beep.
From simplex, goes minus, then plus, then back to simplex.
set with transmit.
ctcss modes:
function then 1 gives you squelch menu.
settings are off on, tone squelsch, and ctcss recognition. (not sure about
this)
Set tone activation with #2

to get to ctcss tone settings, go to menu 30, one click along from 29.
Remember, use function key and 1 to get to 29.
use band to enter, and select your settings.
save with #2
