The Kenwood G71A only receives one band at a time, and it's one of the
short, squat radios.  It's a little like holding a baseball.  If you can
get past that, it's a great radio with a lot of default beeps.  Power
level, offset direction, tone and ctcss on and off, etc.  If you
initialize the vfo, it resets the pl to 88.5.  Feel free to email me off
