Based on what I've read here and elsewhere, I know that eating two pounds or more of meat per day is not unusual for a paleo-dieter. But what in the archaeological record might lead anyone to believe that our HG ancestors ingested this much?
If a natural disaster or illness limited the availability of various animals and birds, or if disaster/illness reduced the number of hunters in a tribe, two pounds of meat per person, or any meat per person, might be a basic impossibility for quite a while.
