Please try to respond quickly--I want to bake tomorrow, if possible.
I am trying to make a gluten-free and dairy-free (and egg-free) apple
crisp so the entire family can enjoy it. I found a recipe, and am
trying to adapt it. The only problem is what to substitute for the
oats?
It's from Betty Crocker. I want to keep this simple.
Here's the recipe:
4 cups sliced tart apples
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup all-purpose flour (I will be using a bean flour that I got from
Gluten-Free pantry--not Bette Hagman's--I thought it was when I bought
it, but it's not. I understand that I also need to add some xanthum
gum--like 1/2 tsp. or so?)
1/2 cup oats (what to use???)
1/2 cup margarine
3/4 tsp ground cinnamon
3/4 tsp ground nutmeg
I do have some gluten-free Barkat organic "porridge" flakes that I could
try (contains rice flakes, millet flakes, agar).
Thank you so much! I will summarize.
Debbie
