Not sure how external is any different than internal. The only external
controls on my external CD-RW are the eject button and the never-used volume
dial. Basically, most external drives are just regular drives installed in
external enclosures. The major drawback of external drives is that unless
you are using USB 2 or firewire, you can't get past a 4x write speed.

Subject: external CD burners
Hi All,
I think I am about to show my lack of knowledge here. Has any one used an
External CD Burner? As in, from an Accessibility perspective? I was under
the impression they only worked with their external controls, as in on the
burner. But, now it occurs to me that you could operate it via card from
your pc. Basically, I've got a friend who wants a CD burner. She is totally
Blind, and unsure if she should go with an internal/external burner. I
bought my new pc way back when with an internal, so it was never an issue.
Am I missing something here?
Thanks,
Randy
