Everyone who completes this course will receive an EASI certificate of
completion and
can, on request, receive 3 continuing education units.  The course can be
used towards the Certificate in Accessible Information Technology.

Educational and other information providers on the Internet are increasingly
using multimedia as a means to disseminate information. Multimedia poses
special
problems but also unique opportunities for reaching people with disabilities.
Providing transcriptions, captions and descriptive video synchronized with
the
media is a real challenge. This course will give step-by-step instruction
in how
and when to provide transcriptions and synchronized captions. This course
will
be good for web masters, information technologists, instructional
technologists,
disabled student staff, librarians and more.

 A brief discussion of accessibility features and issues with these formats.
 Media Formats
 Overview of the three major media formats: RealMedia, QuickTime and
 WindowsMedia.

Lesson Two: Software Installation and Use

 Detailed discussion of the file formats used in RealMedia.
 QuickTime
 Detailed discussion of the QuickTime process.
 MAGpie
 Detailed discussion of the MAGpie process.
 SMIL Composer and GRINNS
Lesson Three: Making Multimedia Accessible
 SMIL (Synchronized Multimedia Integration Language)
 A basic overview of SMIL and how it works.
 Transcribing and formatting for MAGpie Captionin
 Getting the transcription into a format acceptable to import to MAGpie.
 Time encoding and creating the SMIL file
 Making it work.
Lesson Four: Putting it all together ONLINE
 Creating an accessible multimedia PowerPoint Presentation
 Camtasia Producer - produce narrated Powerpoint presentation from exported
 slides to .jpg or .git format..
 Creating an accessible slide show
 Camtasia Producer - Any slides of your choice
 Creating a computer software help tutorial
 Camtasia Recorder - Create short computer tutorial with any software
computer
 on your computer.
