It would seem whether a combination of 256mb and 64mb is acceptable, and
if so, the order of the sticks in the slots, depends on the motherboard.
I checked several mobo manuals. One seemingly didn't care if the values
in the two slots were different. Another had three pages of charts
showing acceptable DIMM combinations. In no case with the latter was
anything but equal value combinations acceptable.
