For comparison purposes, I would like to share my recent experience in
buying a washing machine. I paid $454 for a porcelain rust proof and
scratchproof Maytag washer built in Galesburg, Illinois a few hundred miles
from Chicago. the washer had tactilely discernable controls. this model
had a few extras. it sported a finger faucet for cleaning off soapy
fingers. it also has a separate bleach dispenser to slowly add bleach
during a wash cycle. it also offers the selection of an extra rinse cycle.
This Maytag washer replaced a 22 year old Maytag washer that was still
working, though barely.
Instead of buying a rustproof porcelain Maytag washing machine with a finger
faucet, bleach dispenser, and an extra rinse cycle, I could spend as much
money plus $50 for a cell phone I can use from cingular that others without
disabilities get for free. What's the better value here?
I think I'll choose clean clothes for the next 20 years.
Kelly
