Terri,
Thanks for saying just what hit me. but better than I would have
done it.
There is entirely too much willingness among blind folks and
those who "serve" us to believe that if it talks it is
accessible. Allowing a service like PhoneAnything to be
considered as delivering full accessibility would be a disaster
for scientists, engineers and anybody doing research at more than
a superficial level.
So what are you supposed to do with all this speech on the phone,
tape record it? Baaah humbug, back to the bad old days when
"they" thought a tape recorder was all you needed.
I wouldn't oppose such a service here, but would very much oppose
use of such a limited service as defining accessibility.
