Hi, a couple of comments on DVS from Maine!
First Tom, DVS can only be turned on and off if it is run on the Secondary
Audio Programming (SAP) channel.  Some stations not yet running stereo
haven't got that capability and some cable systems don't either.  In those
cases, DVS will either be on or off according to the program that is
running.

Second, the rule specifying hours of programming doesn't cover local
warnings and important information flashed across the screen at different
times during the programming day.  This would be a very usefull step in the
DVS discussion.

Third and last, this will probably only be happening in the top 25 Nielsen
markets so lots and lots of us won't be covered.

What do folks think about the sponsorship of DVS much as is done withclosed
captioning?
