Hi
I have win98se on Pentium 233 machine with 4-partitions: C, D, E, F.
(C= my OS, D= my data files, E= my installations, F= my backups)
The problem is I cannot scandisk or defrag 'E' under windows:
Scandisk goes back and forth between 'checking file allocation tables' stage
and the 'checking folders'
stage ... until a message pops up saying that something is writing to the
system (?)....
despite the fact that other progs were disabled via the 'end-it-all' tool.
Scandisk however, worked fine from DOS.
Defrag would stay at 0% for over 5 minutes until I quit out of impatience
(HD red light is on).
But under safe mode, Defrag worked ok.
Could you please explain what's wrong.
