Sorry Ian, can't help you with tracing the MB. Other than a look see for
burns or cracks. To check to the component level is beyond my scope.

 Brad, never a burning smell.  When so inclined I'll take a meter to the PS
and see what voltage I'm getting.  Any sugggestions as to where and how to
trace any shorts or opens on the MB?

  sometimes actually boot/POST (no video, nuthin').  Also, when this PC is
