Here's a little trick I learned to get your Standby
option back. Go to your Desktop, right click on My
Computer, and select Properties. Click on the Device
Manager tab. When the Device list opens look for
something called Floppy Disk Controllers and click on
the little + next to it. The line that opens below it
is your floppy drive. Click on this line once to
highlight it and then click the Remove button to
delete it. Once this has been removed restart your
computer. When Windows loads it will reinstall the
drivers for the floppy controllers and this will also
cause Windows to reset and restore your Power
Management settings and your Standby Mode should return.
