it seems the problems with the maiz-bean diet is still all 3 of the usual
problematic amino acids..methionine, lysine, and tryptophan. Here is a link

combination-that is, a 7:3 maize-to-beans ratio-the diet is still short of
an adequate quality for small children, and it is even more so when the
proportion of beans is lower.
addition of 10% fish or milk makes a big difference. Mixing vegetabe
proteins to make them complete seems to be another vegetarian myth at least
in the case of children.
